Atletico Madrid can temporarily move up to second in La Liga on Saturday if it can make a winning return from the international break by beating Alaves at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano. Diego Simeone’s side were in cruise control prior to the mid-season pause having won four consecutive games in all competitions for the first time this season, meaning the break didn’t exactly come at the right time. Alaves, on the other hand, has managed to win just one of its last seven league outings and is more than 20 years removed from its last away victory over Lods Rojiblancos.

Alvarez also bagged a match-winning brace in the Copa del Rey win over Vic in late October, with five of his six goals as an Atletico player thus far coming on the road.
The Argentinian’s only goal in front of the Atleti faithful came in a 3-0 triumph over Valencia back in September, but he’ll hope to roll the clock back by adding to that tally this weekend.
