The Brewers are coming off a trade of Mark Canha to the Kansas City Royals for cash considerations and a player to be named later. It came down to the Brewers not to able to guarantee a roster spot to the first baseman and the Royals were. This is as the Brewers have won three of the last four NL Central crowns and they’ll go for their third division crown in a row.
The Mariners are coming off a huge 14-1 win over the split-squad Chicago White Sox on Saturday. The win helped Seattle avoid a three-game losing streak. Chicago scored a run in the first inning but were shutout the rest of the way. Seattle scored six in the second inning to easily put the game away early. Records in spring usually aren’t cause for concern but the Mariners are 10-19 and 5-7 at home. This is the exact kind of offensive momentum they need to jump start their season if they are going to make it back to the playoffs for the first time since 2022.
