Minnesota puts its eight game winning streak on the line this Thursday night, when Bemidji State comes to town for a non-conference matchup.
In-state, non-conference foes meet up on Thursday night’s college hockey slate, as Minnesota (9-1-0, 4-0-0 Big Ten) welcomes Bemidji State (4-5-0, 3-3-0 CCHA) to 3M Arena at Mariucci. This will be the first of two games between these teams this weekend, with the home-and-home shifting to Bemidji on Saturday. As both teams try to set the tone, Minnesota comes in hot having won eight games in a row, and having not lost a game in regulation so far this year.

Minnesota’s last loss came in the 2024 Ice Breaker Tournament back in mid-October, when they fell 2-1 in overtime to a ranked Omaha team in the championship game. Since then the Golden Gophers have swept weekend series against Minnesota Duluth, St. Thomas, Penn State, and most recently Wisconsin. The Golden Gophers visiting the Badgers in Madison last weekend, and picked up two 3-2 wins.
Offense has led to Minnesota’s hot start. The Golden Gophers rank second in the nation in scoring, averaging 4.3 goals per game. On the other end of the ice they rank ninth nationally, allowing 1.7 goals per game.
This weekend they’ll get a Bemidji State team that has split each of its last three weekends. Those came against Ferris State, Minnesota State, and last week against Augustana (SD). The Beavers won the first of those two games in Sioux Falls 4-3 in overtime last weekend, before losing 5-1 on Saturday.
