Wake Forest returns home from a road loss to host Western Carolina on Tuesday night in college basketball.
Wake Forest (4-1) went on the road for the first time on Saturday and suffered its first loss of the season. On Tuesday, the Demon Deacons return home to Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum to host Western Carolina (2-1). The Catamounts are 0-1 on the road so far this season and have yet to leave North Carolina. Wake Forest last played in the NCAA tournament in 2017 and reached the second round of the NIT last season. Steve Forbes is 75-55 since coming to campus in 2020. Western Carolina’s lone March Madness trip came in 1996 and coach Tim Craft is in his first season after 11 years at Gardner-Webb.

The Demon Deacons were done in by 18 turnovers on Saturday in a 75-60 loss at Xavier. Hunter Sallis went for 16 points in the loss, while Davin Cosby added 13 points and Tre’Von Spillers finished with eight points and nine rebounds. Sallis nets 16.2 points per game, Cameron Hildreth gets 10.8 points a night and Spillers averages 10.4 points and 9.0 boards.
The Catamounts pulled away from visiting NAIA program Truett-McConnell on Wednesday for a 99-64 victory their last time out. Ice Emergy scored 24 points in 24 minutes off the bench, while fellow reserve Jamar Livingston knocked down 13 points. Emery scores 13.7 points per game, with Marcus Kell netting 10.3 points per contest and Bernard Pelote averaging 10.3 points and 9.7 rebounds.
Wake Forest is 2-0 all-time against Western Carolina, winning the most recent meeting at home 87-75 on Nov. 12, 2021.
