Riding a five-fight winning streak Invicta FC bantamweight champion Talita Bernardo (11-4) makes her second title defense on Friday night when she steps into the ring to face former flyweight champion Jennifer Maia (22-10-1) in Maia’s second bout since returning to the division. Bernardo won the bantamweight title in January of 2023 via a unanimous decision victory over Taneisha Tennant and successfully retained the belt with a rear-naked choke victory over Olga Rubin in June for her fifth consecutive victory and her third win in four bouts via submission. Bernardo, the 37-year-old black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, started her career 5-1 before making her UFC debut in 2017 and has now won four consecutive fights since joining Invicta FC in 2022. Seven of Bernardo’s 11 career victories have come via submission with four of her first five victories resulting in a tap out and only one of her four fights in this promotion have seen the third round.
In the co-main event, winning streaks collide as undefeated Riley Martinez (4-0) faces Jackie Cataline (5-3) in a featherweight bout. Cataline won her Invicta FC debut via a ground and pound win over previously undefeated Kelly Ottoni back in August.
Elsewhere on the card Alejandra Lara (11-7) faces Brazil’s Paula Cristina (6-3) in a catchweight bout and strawweight contender Valesca Machado (14-4) aims for her third straight win when she squares off against Yasmin Castanho (6-1) who is making her Invicta debut.
