Sebastian Bourdais and Renger van der Zande start on the pole in the GTP series. The race is on the Grand Prix Road Course at Indianapolis, a 2.439-mile circuit through the infield of the historic track with 14 turns.
Nicky Catsburg and Tommy Miller moved up to the pole in GTD PRO after Laurin Heinrich’s car failed a post-qualifying inspection for a ground-clearance violation. Heinrich leads the class standings by 17 points over Ross Gunn with two races remaining. The top GTD qualifier was Mikael Grenier, his second in three races. The cars in these two classes are gridded together rather than separately.
Dane Cameron and Felipe Nasr hold a 100-point lead over Mathieu Jaminet and Nick Tandy in the GTP standings. Boulle and Dillman came to Indy 27 points up on Felipe Fraga and Gar Robinson in LMP2 and Philip Ellis and Russell Ward have a commanding 284-point advantage over Robby Foley and Patrick Gallagher in the GTD classification.
