Although they’re the heavy favorites to advance out of the first round, Virginia has lost four consecutive games heading into the NCAA Tournament with a 10-5 overall record. The Hoos lost in the ACC Tournament semifinals to top-seed Notre Dame, ending their season with losses to four straight ranked opponents. Saint Joseph’s, on the other hand, has won 12 straight games after taking down Richmond for the A10 title last Saturday. This is the third all-time matchup between these two teams, with the last meeting coming in the 2016 season.

As for Virginia, the Hoos fell in the ACC Tournament semifinals by a final score of 18-9 to top-ranked Notre Dame last weekend. Payton Cormier scored a hat trick in the loss, breaking the ACC career record for goals with 214.
