With both teams trying to snap multi-game losing streaks in this Big Ten matchup, Purdue welcomes conference foe Northwestern to West Lafayette on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats have dropped two straight games to fall to 3-5 overall with a 1-4 mark in Big Ten play this season. Northwestern is 1-2 on the road compared to 2-3 at home, and will now head on the road with four games remaining in the 2024 season. Purdue, on the other hand, has lost six games in a row after winning its opener against Indiana State. Purdue is 1-6 overall with a 0-4 record in conference play and a 1-3 pace at home. Last season, Northwestern scored 17 points in the second half to earn a 23-15 victory over Purdue.

Most recently, Northwestern got blown out on the road in a 40-14 loss to Iowa in Iowa City last week. The Wildcats’ two quarterbacks struggled with Jack Lausch throwing for just 62 yards with two interceptions. Ryan Hilinski wasn’t much better with 58 yards on five completions. Theran Johnson provided the game’s highlight for Northwestern with a 85-yard interception return.
As for Purdue, the Boilermakers drew a tough matchup against No. 2 Oregon, falling to the Ducks by a final score of 35-0 at Ross-Ade Stadium last Friday. Kyndrich Breedlove was a standout in the shutout loss for Purdue, intercepting his third pass of the season, with a career-high eight tackles. Breedlove intercepted Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel in the second quarter.
