The field features 27 total drivers led by Palou on the pole. He is followed by Christian Lundgaard, Will Power, Josef Newgarden and O’Ward in the top five of the starting grind for the 2024 Sonsio Grand Prix.
Palou has one other start this season from the pole. That race saw the star driver never relent his lead, dominate from start to finish and win his only race of the season so far. He and McLaughlin are the only two drivers to win from the pole while leading the most laps in a race.
Despite the wins, Palau (98 points) is only in third place this season with McLaughlin (59 points) all the way down in ninth place. Colton Herta (101 points) is the series leader with four top-eight finishes just a point ahead of Power (100 points), who has three top-six finishes in the three that he qualified for out of four races.
