Defending Western Conference Champions aim for first winning streak of the season as LAFC faces the Portland Timbers
Off a 2-1 El Traffico victory last weekend, Los Angeles FC heads up I-5 today to face the Portland Timbers who are searching for its first win in MLS in over a month. Under new manager Phil Neville, Portland has struggled out of the gate this season winless in its last four matches after a three-match unbeaten string to start the season and sits in 10th place in the west standings. Los Angeles FC has just three wins through its first seven matches this season after back-to-back appearances in the MLS Cup Final that included a championship run in 2022.

LAFC forward Dénis Bouanga is tied for the team lead with three goals through his first seven matches this season after a blistering 20-goal performance in the 2023 regular season with five more coming in the Cup Playoffs. Bouanga, a member of the Gabon national team, joined LAFC in August of 2022 for a $5 million transfer fee from French side Saint-Étienne where he scored 26 goals over three seasons.
Timbers are tied for the most goals scored in the Western Conference this season with 14 goals through the first seven matches. The Brazilian duo of Antony and Evander have combined for six goals and three assists with Evander netting goals in his last two appearances.
LAFC owns the all-time series lead 7-6-5 and has won two of the last three matches.
