Women’s college basketball has a big day of action with two Elite 8 games in the NCAA Tournament along with two semifinal games in the WBIT today. In the first semifinal of the WBIT Penn State (22-12) takes on Villanova (21-12) for the opportunity to play in the WBIT Championship Game. The winner of this game will challenge the winner of Illinois and Washington State in the second semifinal later today. The Nittany Lions come in with one of the most explosive offenses in the country scoring with efficiency and five players averaging double-figures scoring led by senior Ashley Owusu.

This has been a career-best season for Owusu who is averaging 18.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. In the quarterfinals Owusu finished with 24 points going 10-11 from the free-throw line in a tough win over Mississippi State.
Makenna Marisa added 22 points to help pace the offense going 8-8 from the free-throw line in the 92-87 win. The Nittany Lions went 23-24 from the free-throw line attacking and drawing contact all game to earn a trip to the semifinals today.
For the Wildcats, they controlled the pace of the game from the opening tip building a 36-26 lead at the half. Lucy Olsen and Bella Runyan both finished with 16 points each while Christina Dalce and Zanai Jones added 10 points each for a balanced offensive performance pushing them to the semifinals.
