McNeese State and Florida State will meet in non-conference college softball play on Tuesday night.
On Tuesday night, No. 18 Florida State will host McNeese State at JoAnne Graf Field for the first of two non-conference games between the two teams. The Cowgirls come into Tuesday’s contest with an overall record of 23-13 and a conference record of 8-1 so far which puts them in the top spot in the Southland standings. The team’s most recent game was played against Northwestern State and resulted in an 8-0 win in five innings to complete the sweep and extend the team’s win streak to eight games. Corine Poncho led the team at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI while Crislyne Moreno brought in three runs with a fly out, a single and a double. Shaelyn Sanders moved to 11-6 on the season with three innings of work and one strikeout.

The Seminoles bring a six-game win streak into Tuesday’s game to bring their overall record to 24-9 and their conference record to 7-2 which puts them in second place in the ACC. Over the weekend, Florida State hosted NC State and pulled off the sweep with the final game being an 8-5 win. Kennedy Harp led the Seminoles offensively with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate which produced three RBI. Mimi Gooden picked up her second win of the season in the circle to stay undefeated with 3.1 innings of work, giving up just three hits.
McNeese State and Florida State have only met once before and the game dates back to 2018 in which the Cowgirls won by a score of 6-1.
