Germany goes for its second straight win on Friday when it takes on Kazakhstan at the IIHF World Championships
Germany and Kazakhstan hit the ice on Friday in a Group B game of the IIHF World Championships. The German team comes into Friday looking to win a second straight game after they beat Latvia 8-1 on Wednesday. The win snapped a two-game losing streak and improved their record to 2-2 in the tournament. They opened up group play with a 6-4 win over Slovakia, but then lost to the United States and Sweden by a combined 12-2 score. They are battling for fourth place in the group and their last three games are against teams behind them in the standings. They will be favorites to win each of their last three games and need to get victories if they want to advance to the quarterfinals.

Kazakhstan, though, will be looking to pull off the upset as it tries and climb into one of the top four spots that qualify for the next round.
Kazakhstan has been struggling, though, as they have lost three straight games. It opened up play with a 3-1 win over France, but has since lost to Slovakia, Latvia and Sweden.
It leaves them in seventh place in Group B and needing a win if they want to keep their hopes alive to move on.
