Five different drivers won the first five races of the season, with Denny Hamlin adding his name to the list of those provisionally qualified for a berth in the playoffs with his win at the Food City 500 at Bristol last weekend. William Byron, Daniel Suárez, Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell visited victory lane earlier in the season.
Larson and Martin Truex Jr. lead the early season standings with 185 points each, seven ahead of Ty Gibbs. Defending NASCAR Cup champion Kyle Blaney trails by eight points and Hamlin sits fifth with a 12-point deficit.
