No. 10 Kansas State (2-0) opened its season with a pair of blowout wins at home and steps up the degree of difficulty on Thursday night when it welcomes Creighton (1-1) to Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kansas. The Bluejays were ranked No. 21 in the preseason Associated Press poll before dropping their opener last week and falling out of the rankings. The Wildcats, meanwhile, moved up three spots this week. Kansas State lost in the second round of last spring’s NCAA tournament, finishing 26-8, and coach Jeff Mittle is 192-135 in his 11th season. Creighton has played in the last three NCAA tourneys, advancing to the second round as well in March. Jim Flanery, entering his 23rd season, is 428-269.

The Wildcats routed visiting Belmont 82-56 on Nov. 7 behind 23 points from Temira Poindexter. Kennedy Taylor added 18 points and Serena Sundell dished six assists. Poindexter has 38 points in two games, with Taylor putting up 34 points and 16 rebounds while Zyanna Walker has 12 dimes.
The Bluejays bounced back from their opening loss with an 80-72 win over visiting Drake on Monday night. Lauren Jensen went off for 32 points and 10 rebounds and Morgan Maly added 20 points and three blocked shots. Jensen has 55 points and 12 rebounds thus far and Maly has chipped in with 31 points. Molley Mogenson also has 12 boards.
Kansas State leads the all-time series 15-5, with Creighton winning the last meeting between the teams at home 63-54 back on Nov. 23, 2009.
