Felix Rosenqvist takes the pole for Sunday’s 2nd points race on the IndyCar Series schedule on the streets of Long Beach
Felix Rosenqvist claimed Meyer Shank Racing’s first-ever pole position on Saturday for the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. The veteran driver moved from Arrow McLaren to MSR for the 2024 season and opened the campaign with a seventh-place run in St. Petersburg last month. Rosenqvist starts on Row 1 next to Will Power, with Josef Newgarden, Colton Herta, Marcus Ericsson and defending series champion Álex Palou rounding out the Fast Six from Saturday’s qualifying run. Kyle Kirkwood won this race a year ago while Al Unser Jr. holds the record with six victories on the temporary street course in downtown Long Beach, California.

Palou comes off a win at the non-points $1 Million Challenge all-star race last month in Thermal, California. Newgarden leads the standings after his win at St. Petersburg, opening a 14-point lead over Pato O’Ward. Scott McLaughlin stands 19 points back, with Power trailing by 22 points and Herta by 23.
The course in Long Beach evolved over the years, with its current configuration — the race’s seventh overall — in place since 2000. The 1.968-mile circuit includes 11 turns and Herta set the race-lap record back in 2022 with a 1:05.309 burn around it before crashing out on lap 66.
The race covers 167.28 miles, 85 laps through Long Beach’s downtown area.
