The Los Angeles Dodgers (2-1) are off to a strong start to the regular season winning two of the first three games. They started the season splitting two games with the San Diego Padres in Seoul, South Korea before starting this series with the St. Louis Cardinals (0-1) with a win. In the first game, Los Angeles was clicking on all cylinders with the offense, defense and pitching all contributing to a 7-1 win. Now they continue the four-game home-series against St. Louis to kick off the 2024 season. On the mound today for Los Angeles is the dynamic, young right-hander Bobby Miller who makes his season debut against St. Louis’ Zach Thompson who looks to build off of a solid second season in the majors last year.
In the first game of this series Los Angeles got off to a hot start with two runs in the first inning and three more in the third to build a lead that St. Louis was not able to catch. Freeman got his first homerun of the season while Betts went yard for the second time in three games.
For St. Louis, Paul Goldschmidt went yard as well in the fourth inning for his first homerun of the season. Last season Goldschmidt finished with 25 home runs, his eighth season with at least in the majors. He will look to lead St. Louis to an upset win today and even the season-series against Los Angeles.
