Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves host the Houston Rockets for the first time this season in an NBA Cup showdown on Monday.
The Minnesota Timberwolves (8-8) tip-off a four-game Western Conference homestand with the Houston Rockets (12-6) up first on Tuesday. This homestand is coming at just the right time for Minnesota, who has lost two straight games and is just 3-6 in eight games on the road. Minnesota has played significantly better at home, going 5-2 overall, fueled primarily by its defense. At home this season Minnesota is allowing nearly 10 less points per game than on the road, holding opponents to just 106.3 points per game. Anthony Edwards and company are coming off back-to-back road losses by a combined seven points and have to be excited for the friendly confines of the Target Center.

Houston on the other side of the court is looking to bounce back after only the second loss in nine games. The Rockets are playing some of the best team basketball in the NBA, especially on the defensive end.
This season Houston has been the most consistent defense in the league allowing less than 110 points in 14 games and under 100 points in four games. That defense has fueled the offense with Houston 20.9 points per game off of turnovers, third-best in the NBA and less than a point off being the league leaders.
Tari Eason and Amen Thompson have been menaces off the bench, combining for 3.3 steals per game and 8.6 fast break points off of those steals. This game has the potential to be a rock fight between one of the best home defenses in the NBA and one of the best overall defenses colliding for this NBA Cup matchup.
