Julian Mackey and Houston Christian will take the court against Ryan Kalkbrenner and No. 15 Creighton on Wednesday night in men’s college basketball.
Houston Christian will travel to Omaha, Nebraska, on Wednesday night as the second week of men’s college basketball continues. They will meet the hometown Creighton, nationally ranked No. 15, inside the CHI Health Center. The Bluejays are undefeated heading into the second week of the regular season after picking up two untested wins in the first week. They opened up the season last Wednesday with a game inside the CHI Health Center, taking down Rio Grande Valley, 99-86.
Ryan Kalkbrenner put up the biggest stat line of any college basketball player in the first week in that game, dropping 49 points on 20-of-22 shooting with 11 rebounds and two assists. Creighton would go on to dominate Florida International this weekend at home, 96-70. Once again, the team was led by Kalkbrenner, who had 24 points and six rebounds. Jackson McAndrew came off the bench and had 13 points in 14 minutes in that win as well.
The Huskies head on the road for the second straight game and their second straight game against a Top 25 ranked opponent. They opened up the season with a 86-59 win at Sharp Gymnasium in Houston over Avila. Bryson Dawkins led the team with 18 points in his first season with Houston Christian after transferring in.
The enjoyment of that win didn’t last long as the team ventured on the road last weekend to face-off against the former No. 19 ranked Texas and last 90-59. Julian Mackey, a senior guard who transferred in from Georgia State, led the team with 20 points and four rebounds.
