With the visitors riding a seven-game winning streak to College Football Playoff contention, No. 13 SMU visits conference foe Virginia in Charlottesville at Scott Stadium on Saturday. After dropping a game back in September to BYU, the Mustangs have rattled off seven-straight wins to improve to 9-1 overall with a perfect 6-0 record in ACC play. SMU is also undefeated on the road, with a 4-0 record, and will now look to finish the season perfect in road contests. Virginia, on the other hand, dropped another game last week to fall to an even 5-5 overall with a 3-3 conference record and a 2-3 mark at home. The Hoos have two more games to become bowl-eligible with a sixth win. With the Mustangs joining the ACC this season, this is the first meeting between SMU and Virginia in the series history.Â

Most recently, SMU extended its winning streak to seven games with a 38-28 victory over Boston College in Dallas last week. Kevin Jennings threw for 298 yards and three touchdowns in the win, while Brashard Smith added 120 rushing yards and a score. The game-winning touchdown came when Jennings tossed a 38-yard touchdown to Jordan Hudson.
As for Virginia, the Cavaliers couldn’t overcome multiple turnovers falling to No. 8 Notre Dame in a 35-14 loss in South Bend last week. The Hoos were in the game for most of the second half, but things unraveled in the second quarter, leading to a 28-0 halftime deficit. Quarterback Anthony Colandrea threw three interceptions in the loss.
