The Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks meet in a Western Conference Finals rematch on Christmas Day.
The Dallas Mavericks (19-10) host the Minnesota Timberwolves (14-14) at American Airlines Center on Christmas Day in a reprise of their Western Conference Finals matchup from last spring. Dallas, currently fourth in the West, comes in with two straight wins, while the Timberwolves have lost their last three and could fall back below .500 for the first time since Nov. 29 with a loss. Naz Reid of Minnesota left Monday night’s game with an ankle injury and the Wolves are also without reserves Luka Garza (ankle) and Joe Ingles (soleus). The Mavericks are without backups Dante Exum (wrist surgery) and Jaden Hardy (ankle).

Dallas routed the visiting Portland Trail Blazers 132-108 on Monday night, as Luka Dončić returned from missing two games with a bruised left heel with 27 points, while Daniel Gafford came off the bench for 23 points and Kyrie Irving added 20. The Mavericks never trailed after the 11:02 mark of the second quarter. Dončić averages 28.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.1 assists, while Irving scores 23.4 points per game. Klay Thompson is three three-pointers away from moving past Reggie Miller for fifth on the all-time list.
Minnesota had a small lead entering the fourth quarter on Monday night but the host Atlanta Hawks surged to a 117-104 victory. Reid scored 23 points before leaving the game, while Julius Randle added 19 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists. Anthony Edwards leads the team with 25.3 points per game, Randle is getting 20.0 points a night, Rudy Gobert averages 10.3 points and 10.6 rebounds and Mike Conley gets 8.3 points and 4.7 assists an outing.
The Christmas Day matchup is the second of three meetings between Dallas and the Timberwolves, with the Mavericks taking a 120-114 win in Minneapolis back on Oct. 29. The final matchup of the regular season is set for Jan. 22, also in Dallas.
