Borussia Dortmund has its sights on the Champions League’s top spots when it travels to Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday.
The Champions League has given Borussia Dortmund cause for optimism in what’s been an otherwise tricky debut season for Nuri Sahin, as his side pay a visit to Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday. The Black and Yellows currently sit fifth in the Bundesliga and look unlikely to challenge for league silverware, but the same can’t be said for their chances in Europe after winning three of four outings thus far. Dinamo already suffered a historic 9-2 humbling at Bayern Munich earlier in this term’s competition and will be hoping to avoid more embarrassment against German opposition.

The Croat outfit has also experienced some subtle highs in the Champions League this term and is in a good place to qualify for a latter stage of the competition after winning two of its four games.
Dinamo sits 16th in the table as things stand and remarkably enters Matchday 5 above Bayern in the table despite that one-sided defeat at the Allianz Arena back in September.
Dortmund looked back to its best while powering to a 4-0 win over Freiburg over the weekend, with four different scorers getting in on the act for Sahin’s side.
That being said, Dortmund has looked like a different team on the road so far this campaign and is currently riding a streak of six straight losses in enemy territory (including penalty shootouts).
Wednesday’s trip is complicated by the absences of defender Niklas Sule and forward Karim Adeyemi, while striker Serhou Guirassy could also miss out after falling ill this week.
Dinamo has some significant absences of its own, as striker Bruno Petkovic sits out due to injury, while midfielder Petar Sucic and forward Juan Cordoba are also missing.
