The best of the West heads to Ohio as LAFC faces Columbus both desperate for a win.
Despite being deadlocked atop Major League Soccer’s Western Conference, Los Angeles FC comes into today’s losers of two straight matches hoping to avoid the club’s first three-match losing streak since September of 2021. The Crew have just one win in their last eight matches and have never beaten LAFC in MLS play. The Crew has lost both of their meetings with LAFC by an aggregate score of 5-0.

While the defense would benefit from tightening up on the backend, LAFC would love a return to form from leading scorer forward Carlos Vela. With a penalty kick goal against Austin on Wednesday, Vela broke a seven-match scoreless streak for his fifth goal of the season. Vela started the year with a hat trick against Colorado on February 26.
Lucas Zelarayán has been involved in just one goal in the Crew’s last eight matches after contributing to six goals in the team’s first three games this season. Since Zelarayán joined the Crew in 2020, Columbus has won 21 of the 29 matches in which he’s contributed to a goal and just 11 of the 43 matches when he doesn’t have one or doesn’t play.
