Muenster and Shiner face-off in the UIL Conference 2A Division 2 Championship in Texas High School Football on Wednesday.
It is going to be a showdown in the Lone Star State when Muenster hosts a home playoff game against Shiner in the UIL Conference 2A Division 2 Championship on Wednesday. Muenster is 13-2 and 5-0 in district play. Muenster lost two games early in the season but have won 11 games in a row and are the hottest team in the conference. The Hornets should be favored in this game based on scoring averages alone. It is no wonder that Muenster has made it to the championship round of this tournament averaging 50.3 points this season. Shiner is no slouch but comparatively is averaging 37.6 ppg.

Muenster is the eighth seed in this tournament and the Hornets just took down the No. 1 seed Gruver last week by a 49-26 final. It was the Greyhounds first loss all season and headed into the semifinal game with a perfect 14-0 record. Casen Carney led the day for Muenster with 158 yards on the ground with three touchdowns. Look for another steady diet of downhill running in this championship game tonight.
Don’t count Shiner out of this one though because the Comanches have won 12 in a row after losing their first three games of the season. Shiner is coming off a 41-33 win over Bremond last week in the semifinals. After getting shutout in the first quarter and getting down two scores, the second quarter was a complete 180 for Shiner scoring 27 points. The team clamped down and only allowed one score in the second half to advance to the final. It’s difficult to fathom that Shiner may need to score even more to walk away with this championship.
