After a double-overtime loss, Vandegrift looks to get back over .500 when they travel to take on Stony Point on Thursday night.
It’s a central Texas showdown on Thursday night when the Vandegrift Vipers from Austin take on the Stony Point Tigers from Round Rock. Both teams are trying to get back on track after losses last week. Both share a 1-1 record heading into this district game. The Vipers started the season with a relatively smooth win at home, beating Dripping Springs 31-14. Vandegrift had a more impressive game on offense in its last matchup but lost in a tight race 49-46. The game went into a second overtime and Cedar Park won on a walk-off touchdown after Vandegrift took the lead after a 45-yard field goal. It was a very emotional game that the Vipers just missed out on so this should be plenty of motivation to bounce back. But it won’t be easy as Vandegrift is heading on the road.

Stony Point is also 1-1 to open the season and both of its games have been close. The Tigers won their opener against East View 28-22. But then they lost on the road to Johnson 35-24 last week. Getting back home should give Stony Point the advantage in this one.
