Mississippi high school football showcases the Meridian Wildcats hosting the Brandon Bulldogs on Wednesday.
Since 2014 Brandon (7-1) has won nine of the last 10 games against Meridian (4-5) in Mississippi high school football. The Bulldogs come into Wednesday’s game on a five-game winning streak, playing some of the best football of the season right now. Heading into this game the Bulldogs are the top ranked team in the state, as they continue to get better and better each week with just two games left in the regular season. During this stretch of dominance for the Bulldogs over the Wildcats they have won eight straight. In the last three games between the teams the Bulldogs have been unstoppable on the offensive end, averaging 43.6 points per game and scoring at least 41 points in all three wins.

During the current five-game winning streak this season the Bulldogs have seemed to improve a little each week. They are averaging 37.6 points per game while allowing just 14.4 points per game to opponents.
For the Wildcats this season they were starting to move in the right direction with a three-game winning streak, but immediately followed that with their current three-game losing streak. They are ranked 40th in the state and are winless in conference play through three games.
In wins, the Wildcats have been consistent on both ends of the ball averaging 28.2 points per game while allowing just 23 total points to opponents. The losses have come in a variety of ways with the team being held to single digits twice while scoring between 15 to 30 points in the other three games. Inconsistency has been the story for the Wildcats this season.
