Steubenville Catholic Central opens its 2024-25 season on the road when it visits Edison in Richmond, Ohio
Steubenville Catholic Central, coming off a 15-9 campaign a season ago, hits the road for its opener on Tuesday night, visiting Edison in Richmond, Ohio. The Crusaders compete in the Ohio Valley AA conference while the host Wildcats are members of the Ohio Valley AAAAA. Edison won its opener over the weekend and comes off a 5-18 record last season, with their season ending in the Ohio state tournament with a loss at Malvern. Catholic Central fell to Bishop Rosecrans in tournament play.

The Wildcats hosted Salineville Southern on Saturday and ran off with a 69-53 victory. junior Bryce Rogers and Isaiah Filburn led the offense with 18 points each while junior Kyle Long dropped in 15. Long averaged eight points and four assists a game last season while Rogers put up eight points and five rebounds per contest.
Benjamin Rook averaged 17.5 points last season for the Crusaders and is their top returning scorer, with fellow senior Tommy Purgi bringing back averages of 9.8 points and 7.2 rebounds. Sophomore hayden Cihon notched 7.8 points a game as a freshman last season. Another senior, Camden Bradley, booked 7.8 points and 6.8 boards a season ago.
Catholic Central swept two meetings from Edison last season, winning 61-52 at home on Dec. 5 and taking a 60-46 decision at Richmond on Jan. 30. The Wildcats last win in the series was in Steubenville on Feb. 3, 2023, by a 49-43 score.
