Off its first win, newly promoted AS Saint-Étienne aims for its first away victory at Nice in three years
After picking up its first win of the 2024-25 Ligue 1 campaign, AS Saint-Étienne takes the trip south to the French Riviera today to face OGC Nice in search of its first win at Allianz Riviera since 2021. Nice has collected four points in its first four matches this season earning a home draw against Toulouse followed by a 4-1 away victory over Angers at the start of September, a slower start than new manager Franck Haise would have preferred after a fifth-place finish in league play last season. AS Saint-Étienne last won Ligue 1 in 1981 and as recent as 2019 finished fourth before being relegated after the 2022 campaign.

Nice has won three of the last four meetings since October of 2020 with the lone Saint-Étienne victory coming at Allianz Riviera on a Charles Abi goal in the 88th minute to steal a 1-0 away victory.
Saint-Étienne has only managed one goal in its first four matches back in Ligue 1, netted by midfielder Mathieu Cafaro who put three of his five shots on target including the eventual game winner just eight minutes into its home match against Lille last Friday.
