The third round of practice will happen right before this qualifying round. After the second practice, Charles Leclerc of Monaco and Ferrari led the field. Perez was the leader after the first practice on Thursday and Leclerc held the lead above the championship leader Max Verstappen of Belgium and Red Bull Racing.
The biggest story off the track revolves around FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem’s comments about whether Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel should be vocal about issues of equality and diversity. Both drivers said they would continue to speak out. The following days will show much more about the state of the sport than who will take the pole position going into the race on Sunday.
