Spanish driver Carlos Sainz has the eyes of a nation on him as the Spanish Grand Prix practice two begins.
The Spanish Grand Prix is Sunday at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and the second practice session is set for Friday at the 2.905-mile course. The circuit was redesigned for last year’s race and includes 16 turns. Drivers will make 66 trips around the track for a race length of nearly 192 miles.

Lewis Hamilton is the five-time defending champion at the Spanish Grand Prix and shares a record six wins overall with F1 legend Michael Schumacher. But while the Mercedes driver has struggled in 2022, Ferrari returns to a track where it has 13 wins.
Charles Leclerc of Ferrari leads the points standings and teammate Carlos Sainz returns to his home country in fifth place and with three podium finishes this season. After getting to the podium in each of the first two races of 2022, Sainz finished third in Miami two weeks ago.
Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing brings the momentum of two straight wins. He’s 19 points behind Leclerc in the standings after winning the series title last year.
Ferrari owns a six-point lead over Red Bull in the constructor standings, with Mercedes trailing by 62 in third place.
The final practice session will be Saturday prior to qualifying for Sunday’s sixth event on the 2022 Formula 1 calendar.
