San Antonio (16-15) got the better of the first game followed by Minnesota (16-14) dominating the most recent game to even the season series. Gobert has had more success this season against Wembanyama, holding the second-year phenom to 20 points or less and under 50% shooting in both games. Everytime Gobert faces Wembanyama in the NBA it is a part of the passing of the torch as the best French big man in the world, as well as the best big man defender in the league.

In the last game between the teams Minnesota jumped out early and held on for a 106-92 win. Anthony Edwards led the team with 26 points while Niceil Alexander-Walker (17 points), Jaden McDaniels (12 points and 10 rebounds), Julius Randle (11 points) and Gobert (10 points and nine rebounds) finished in double-figures.
Wembayama led San Antonio with 20 points, 12 rebounds, seven blocks and five assists. Jeremy Sochan (17 points and 15 rebounds) and Harrison Barnes (17 points) also finished in double-figures.
San Antonio had better luck the first time the teams played coming away with a 113-103 win at home. Keldon Johnson Jr. came off the bench for 25 points and Sochan had another double-double (19 points and 10 rebounds) to give San Antonio the edge. Wembanyama finished with 17 points on 1-7 shooting from three.
