The second season of The Irrational will premiere on Tuesday night at 10 p.m. with Jesse L. Martin returning as Alec Mercer.
On Tuesday night, much to viewers’ delight, the season two premiere of The Irrational will air at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. In this drama, world-renowned behavioral science professor Alec Mercer (Jesse L. Martin) uses his expertise in psychology, body language and emotion to help solve difficult cases that had previously hit a roadblock with detectives. Mercer uses a talented support staff of research assistants, a tech-savvy sister and his ex-wife to help solve crimes. Guided by his own curiosity about the human mind and how decisions are made, Mercer has used his unique set of skills to get solving crimes down to a science. He asks the proper questions and makes observations that nobody else seems to be able to do and has an uncanny ability to study a crime scene in a way nobody else has seen.

In the season one finale, Alec and Marisa (Maahra Hill) came close to finding the culprit of the church bombing. Kylie (Travina Springer) was able to get an interview with the FBI, but was pulled into the investigation. Rose (Kern David) tracked down a witness while Phoebe (Molly Kunz) and Rizwan (Arash DeMaxi) make a discovery that helped to shine a light on the truth.
In the season premiere titled “Collateral Damage,” Rose ends up going missing and Alec quickly realizes that there may be a motive behind her kidnapping. While being held captive, she must find a way to stall for time and does so by playing a dangerous came with her captors. Alec gets impatient waiting for authorities to find her so he takes matters into his own hands.
