The CW will bring back The Chosen for its fourth season on Sunday night.
Sunday night will see the return of fall television shows on The CW with the season four premiere of The Chosen at 8 p.m. ET. The show which stars Jonathan Roumie as Jesus, is set in the 1st century and follows the life of Jesus of Nazareth, the people he met and the people who followed him. Set in Judaea and Galilee, the series chronicles Jesus’ ministry, highlighting his invitation to individuals from all different backgrounds to study with him. In season one, the storyline followed Jesus’ rise to fame after he performed numerous miracles, but by season three, his popularity had become troublesome as it caused political and societal groups to begin speaking out against the prophet.

The fourth season will begin with the execution of John the Baptist, played by David Amito. Jesus and his followers will work through their grief after losing their friend, but the miracles will not stop. After healing a blind man on the Sabbath, Jesus will also raise Lazarus from the dead. The Pharisees and Romans continue to struggle with Jesus’ heresy, and are determined to punish him for it. Tensions continue to mount in season four as Jesus deals with conflict amongst his disciples and with the Jewish and Roman authorities.
The first series of its kind portraying Jesus’ life and teachings began as a crowdfunding project, but picked up popularity with major networks showing interest. The CW became home to the series and continues to deliver for its viewers as an incredible cast and crew brings Jesus’ life to the small screen. Tune in Sunday night for an all-new season.
