Philly Homicide premieres on Saturday night at 9 p.m. ET on the Oxygen Channel. Hosted by Lt. Chris McMullin of the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office, the series “delves into the twists and turns of the most harrowing murders committed in one of the country’s most historic regions, as told by Philadelphia’s toughest homicide detectives.” In the first episode of the series The FBI, DEA, Pennsylvania State Police, Chester P.D. and other law enforcement agencies get involved in the investigation of Corporal Michael Douglas Beverly’s murder. Everyone in the Highland Gardens neighborhood was subpoenaed so that any witnesses could give info without fear of reprisal. After 10 months of interviewing neighborhood residents, a witness tells law enforcement she saw the suspect.

The host McMullin spent several years as a patrol officer with the police department in Philadelphia, where he was born and raised, before becoming a detective with Bensalem Police Department, where he investigated homicides, sex crimes, assaults, and robberies.

His professional insight will be weaved into the true crime stories told on Philly Homicide, along with that of former and current Philly area detectives.

“From the time I was three, four years I would sit on the patio, watch cars go in and out and wave to the cops and they were always friendly,” McMullin told Oxygen.com.

“Every summer, I would go back there and as I got a little older, they’d wave to me and sometimes I got to know a few of them,” McMullin said. “Fast-forward, when I was about 19, I had applied to be a seasonal police officer because in the summer months, they would hire seasonal cops to up the manpower because with the tourist population, the town will get busy.”

    Regional restrictions may apply.
