The USA Network brings us another wild show with the premiere of Hysteria! on Friday night at 10:30 p.m. ET. The show turns the clock back to the 1980s for a delightfully retro tale inspired by the unfounded parental fear of children succumbing to the forces of the occult. Hysteria! is about both sides of that generational fear,” Kane and Goodman said in a joint statement. “It’s about the thrills of being young, rebellious in spirit and aspirational at heart — and the horrors of growing up and realizing that the world you thought you knew has shifted beneath your feet. Our hope is that parents and children (of the appropriate age, of course) can enjoy the chills, the laughs, the music, and the heart of Hysteria! together. Growing up is scary. So is parenting” according to the press release.

Set against the backdrop of the late 1980s, Hysteria! takes place in Happy Hollow, a sleepy Michigan town that finds itself unexpectedly rocked by incredibly strange happenings. When the star high school quarterback is seemingly kidnapped by a Satanic cult, the members of an unknown heavy metal band decide to capitalize on their fellow citizens’ sudden interest in the occult, naively unaware that their decision to rebrand themselves as Devil worshippers will begin to spiral out of control. Is the mounting hysteria a baseless knee jerk reaction from highly conservative parents or are supernatural forces truly at work?
The release continues that he show’s roster of talent includes Julie Bowen (Modern Family) as Linda Campbell; Anna Camp (Perfect Harmony) as Tracy Whitehead; Emjay Anthony (Chef) as Dylan Campbell; Chiara Aurelia (Fear Street: Part Two) as Jordy; Kezii Curtis (Secret Headquarters) as Spud; Nikki Hahn (American Housewife) as Faith; Garret Dillahunt (Burn Notice) as The Reverend; Nolan North (Uncharted) as Gene Campbell; Elijah Richardson (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) as Cliff; Milly Shapiro (Hereditary) as Ingrid; Allison Scagliotti (Warehouse 13) as Officer Olsen; Jessica Treska (Sharp Objects) as Judith; and the great Bruce Campbell (Ash vs Evil Dead) as Chief Dandridge.
