Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will make its return to ABC on Thursday night with new hosts in the reinvention of a longtime favorite.
On Thursday night, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will return to ABC with new hosts, new designers and new stories that will move viewers to tears. The original show began back in 2004 and ran for eight years before coming to an end on ABC. In its absence, however, a void was left and the network decided to reinvent the show. Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin will serve as the show’s new hosts while winner of season 36 of CBS’ Survivor will step in to use implement his furniture design skills while working alongside interior designer Arianne Bellizaire. Shearer and Teplin have turned home organization into an art form with their brand “The Home Edit” and have helped celebrities such as Khloe Kardashian and Reese Witherspoon with breathing new life into spaces.

Each episode of the show features a family who is truly in need of assistance, but also is giving of themselves. In the past, some of the applicants chosen for a home makeover were single parents, veterans and families who had members suffering from illnesses. The show previously helped individuals who lived in areas hit by natural disasters and the same will ring true this time around.
The crew will help to improve the lives of applicants chosen by renovating their homes to make them livable no matter the situation. “The heart, the surprise, the reveal, the emotion, the tears, the joy, the family, all those things are still coming with us,” new hosts Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin have shared in previews.
Tune in on Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET on ABC to see the reinvention of an early 2000’s staple.
