In the premiere episode, Bonnin and the Nat Geo team travel to Africa to visit the Kalahari Desert. With the highlight on meerkats, the show will observe the complex social structure of the species while getting an up close look at meerkat pups as they take their first few steps outside of the family’s burrow.
In addition, the episode will look at a species of ants called Mantabele ants and how they work together to take care of each other after battles with termites. The ants provide first aid and support to keep the colony strong despite the territorial battles they face. The series will also take a look inside the habits of a Mexican molly fish and how it uses its dazzling appearance to avoid its biggest predator which is a kingfisher.
