Martin allowed and allegedly recruited players without intellectual disabilities to have a better shot at winning medals, thus securing funding for future games. In a report, 10 of the 12 players on the 2000 Paralympic roster for Spain did not have an intellectual disability, but still played for the team that eventually won gold by defeating Russia 87-63.

The 30 for 30 series started back in 2007 to celebrate 30 stories in the world of sports for the 30th anniversary of ESPN. Through four volumes and other collections, the series has 157 total stories between volumes, shorts, soccer stories and special ESPN Films presentations.
