    How to Watch 2022 Tour de France: Stage 1 Live Stream, TV Channel, Start Time

    The 109th Tour de France begins in Copenhagen with an individual time trial this morning.

    Slovenian Tadej Pogačar, the two-time defending champion, leads the field into the 109th edition of the Tour de France on Friday. This year’s race will cover 2,068 miles, over 21 stages and for the first time since 2019, will start outside of France. Stage 1 is an 8.1-mile individual time trial that will begin in Copenhagen, Denmark.

    There are 176 riders scheduled to start the Tour, with France leading the pack with 32 competitors. Belgium is next with 18, followed by Italy (14), the Netherlands (10) and Denmark (10). From North America, there are seven cyclists from the United States and four from Canada.

    The 23-year-old Pogačar leads the UAE Team Emirates and draws comparisons to legendary cyclist Eddy Merckx, who shares the record with five Tour victories in the late 1960s and 1970s. Pogačar is the first multiple winners of the Tour since Brit Chris Froome, who won in 2013 and ran off three straight from 2015-17.

    Saturday’s Stage 2 will continue in Denmark, from Roskilde to Nyborg, covering 124 miles of flat ground.
