The defending champion Guyana Amazon Warriors take on the second place Saint Lucia Kings in Wednesday’s qualifier.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors (7-3, 14 points) claimed first place in the league stage of the Caribbean Premier League and again play host to the playoff phase at Providence Stadium in Providence, Guyana on Wednesday. The Amazon Warriors face the second place Saint Lucia Kings (7-3, 14 points) in Qualifier 1. The winner advances to Sunday’s final while the loser takes on the Barbados Royals in Qualifier 2 on Friday. Guyana took the tiebreaker from the Kings and the Trinbago Knight Riders by having the best net run rate (.799) during the league phase. Saint Lucia claimed second place with a .673 net run rate.

The Amazon Warriors had their four-match winning streak end in Sunday’s league stage finale, a 74-run loss to the Knight Riders. Shimron Hetmyer led the team with 353 runs and led the league with a 186.77 strike rate and four fifties. Shai Hope produced 286 runs off 210 balls. Gudakesh Mokie led the bowlers with 16 wickets while Moeen Ali posted the top economy rate in the CPL at 4.63.
The Kings’ attack was led by Charles Johnson’s 366 runs off 240 balls. Johnson is the CPL’s all-time leader in runs with 3,221 in 116 matches. Faf du Plessis notched 327 runs off 222 balls this season and Evin Lewis recorded one of the CPL’s three centuries this season. Noor Ahmad’s 18 wickets were the most in the league and his 5.93 economy rate led the team.
Guyana won by six wickets at Saint Lucia on Sept. 7, 101 and 4 to 100 and 10, before a dominant 207 and 7 to 172 and 7 triumph at home on Saturday.
