LDU Quito joined a group of teams with two Copa Sudamericana wins, The others are Boca Juniors, Independiente, Athletico Paranaense and Independiente del Valle.
44 teams qualified for this year’s Copa Sudamericana. The first stage helped narrow down the field, with 16 matches. The 16 winners advanced to the group stage. The group stage took place from April 2 to June 8 this year, setting the field for the knockout phase.
