Washington and Utah will conclude regular season play on Sunday in Salt Lake City ahead of postseason play.
On Sunday afternoon, Utah will host No. 10 Washington at Dumke Family Softball Stadium to close out regular season play with their Pac-12 series finale. The Huskies bring an overall record of 31-12 and a conference record of 13-10 into Sunday’s game which puts the team in third place in the Pac-12 standings. Washington is currently on a three game losing streak after dropping the first game to Utah in a 5-4 loss in the series opener and another one-run loss yesterday in a 2-1 defeat. The loss was credited to Lindsay Lopez in the circle with 1.1 innings of work in which she gave up both earned runs on three hits. The team’s only run came from the bad of Sydney Stewart with an RBI double in the third.

The Utes have now won three straight games to improve to 10-13 against Pac-12 opponents and are 32-19 overall for a spot in sixth place in the standings. Kaylah Nelson opened the scoring for the Utes in yesterday’s 2-1 victory with a single up the middle to score Aliya Belarde in the first inning. The second run came home when Abby Dayton was walked in the second inning which brought home Shonty Passi. Mariah Lopez took the win in the circle to improve to 21-10 on the season with four innings of work in which she struck out two batters.
