Florida has played very well, especially in the postseason, so the Gators can’t be counted out. They advanced to the SEC Tournament semifinals against the No. 1 seed Arkansas, but they didn’t let that slow them down in the regional round. They won all three games and their smallest margin of victory was six runs. They beat Wisconsin 11-0 in the final game of the previous round.
Virginia Tech also lost in the semis of the ACC Tournament. They won four of its five games in the regional round. The first loss was against Kentucky, 5-4, but the Hokies won their next two games against the Wildcats to move on to play Florida in the super regionals.
