Missouri kicks off SEC Tournament play on Wednesday afternoon with a game against Ole Miss at Jane B. Moore Field.
On Wednesday afternoon, fifth-seeded Missouri will begin its quest for an SEC tournament title with a game against 13th-seeded Ole Miss at Jane B. Moore Field at Auburn. The Rebels made it through their opening game with a 7-2 victory over 12th-seeded Kentucky on Tuesday night to open tournament play. Paige Smith opened the scoring for Ole Miss with a solo home run to left field in the first inning. She stepped up to the plate in the third to extend the lead with an RBI single down the right field line. Angelina DeLeon and Julia Lassiter hit well, also, recording a triple and home run, respectively, to close out the scoring in the win. Grace Sparks got the start in the circle and only gave up three hits, before Brianna Lopez came in to earn her third save of the season with 2.1 innings of work in which she struck out four.

The Tigers ended regular season play with a sweep of South Carolina to bring the team’s overall record to 40-14 and its conference record to 13-11. The final game of the series went 10 innings, but Missouri capped the season off with a 5-2 victory after Abby Hay hit a walk-off three-run homer to center field to score Alex Honnold and Kayley Lenger. Taylor Pannell finished the game in the circle for the Tigers and had four strikeouts in four innings of work while only giving up one hit to earn her second win of the season.
Mizzou currently leads the all-time series with Ole Miss 15-10 and earned an 8-3 game against the Rebels last season, before dropping the following two games in the series. The winner of this game will go on to play fourth-seeded Arkansas on Thursday afternoon.
