The NCAA softball tournament will kick off today with a matchup between the No. 21 ranked team in the country, Arizona, and the No. 14 ranked team in the nation, Arkansas, at the Fayetteville Regional in Arkansas on Saturday afternoon. Each regional is a double-elimination tournament with a chance to advance to the Super Regionals in the next round of the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcat come into this game as one of the few top-25 matchups in the country in the second round of any regional. They finished the season 35-16-1 overall and 13-11 against teams from the Pac-12 Conference. They lost their second game of the Pac-12 Tournament to UCLA 6-5 after beating Washington the day before 11-3. They opened up NCAA Tournament play with a 14-3 win yesterday against Villanova in the Fayetteville Regional. Miranda Stoddard won her sixth game of the season and remained undefeated with three scoreless innings and two strikeouts. Six different players to Arizona had two RBIs in that win.

The Razorbacks are closer to home and the higher-ranked team in this matchup. They finished the season 37-16 overall and 14-10 against a tough Southeastern Conference schedule. They lost a shocking game in the first game of the SEC Tournament to Missouri 3-1. However, they entered the NCAA Tournament with a 3-2 win yesterday against Southeast Missouri State.
Robyn Herron picked up win No. 12 on the season with no earned runs and five strikeouts over 5.2 innings pitched. Arkansas had no homers on the night, but Reagan Johnson, Nia Carter, and Kennedy Miller all had a single RBI in the win. The former two also paired it with two hits as well. This will be a great regional game with a trip to the championship on the line.
