On Friday night, No. 23 Cal will travel to No. 12 UCLA to kick off a three-game Pac-12 series at Easton Stadium. The Golden Bears come into Friday night’s game with an overall record of 29-11 and a conference record of 4-8 for a spot in sixth place in the Pac-12 standings. Last weekend, Cal took on Loyola Marymount in a non-conference series. The Golden Bears won the first two games, but fell 6-3 in the finale. Tatum Anzaldo hit a solo shot in the fifth and brought in another run in the seventh, but the team ultimately came up short as Loyola Marymount avoided the sweep. Ashanti McDade took the loss in the circle with 1.1 innings of work in which she gave up one hit, one run and walked one batter.

The Bruins are currently in second place in the Pac-12 standings with a conference record of 8-3 and an overall record of 23-9. On Tuesday, UCLA hosted Cal State Fullerton and won handily in an 8-0 shutout in six innings. Jordan Woolery and Maya Brady each his two run homers in the first and second innings, respectively, to lead the offense and jump out to an early lead. Kaitlyn Terry remains undefeated in the circle at 11-0 after pitching a complete game and striking out eight batters.
UCLA leads the all-time series with Cal 101-30-1 and took two out of three games last season in Berkeley. Cal’s only win in the series was the first since 2013.
