The Bruins are currently 3-1-2 overall and 1-0 in Big Ten play after beating No. 14 Northwestern on Friday night in a narrow 1-0 victory. Jose Contell scored the lone goal of the game just nine minutes in after the team was awarded a penalty kick. Despite Northwestern outshooting UCLA 15-5, Sam Joseph kept the net clear by making five saves between the posts to earn his fifth shutout of the season.

The Badgers are in search of their first Big Ten win after dropping the conference opener on Friday night against Maryland in a 3-0 defeat on the road. The team is now 5-1 overall and will likely drop in the rankings having fallen to an unranked team by such a large deficit. Against Maryland, the Badgers outshot the Terps 10-7, but were unable to to put any in the net. Prior to the loss against the Terps, Wisconsin beat No. 16 Kentucky 1-0 for its first ranked win of the year.
Monday night’s game will be the Bruins’ sixth game against ranked opponents as they have played No. 11 LMU, No. 8 Portland, No. 14 Northwestern, No. 18 James Madison and No. 3 Denver. Against those teams, the Bruins are undefeated and will look to stay that way with a win on Monday night to conclude their road trip in the Midwest.
