A Top 10 matchup will take place on Monday night as No. 6 Denver travels to square off against No. 1 Pitt in college soccer.
On Monday night, an exciting matchup between two of the best teams in the country will take place as No. 1 Pitt hosts No. 6 Denver at Ambrose Urbanic Field in a non-conference men’s soccer matchup. The Pioneers are undefeated this season and bring an overall record of 7-0-4 into Monday’s match. The team is on a three-game win streak, including two Summit League wins to start off conference play on a high note. Most recently, the team beat St. Thomas in commanding fashion as the Pioneers earned a 5-0 victory at home. The team held St. Thomas to just two shots with one on net, while producing 24 shots of its own with 14 on frame. Tyler Schommer scored a brace in the win while Oje Ofunrein, Ian Welch and Sam Bassett also joined him on the score sheet with one goal apiece. Isaac Nehme and Jake Morris shared responsibilities in net with Nehme making one save to earn his fourth clean sheet of the year.

The Panthers bring a six game win streak into Monday’s highlighted match with an overall record of 9-1 and a perfect record of 4-0 in ACC play. On Wednesday, Pitt hosted Howard in a non-conference game that resulted in a massive 8-1 victory. Eben McIntyre was the only Panther to record multiple goals, finishing the game with a brace. Luis Sahmkow, Arnau Vilamitjana, Albert Thorsen, Casper Svendby, Casper Grening and Santiago Ferreira each made it onto the score sheet with one goal each. Jack Moxom played the full game in net and was not challenged often, however, when he was, he conceded one goal, his first in four games.
These two teams met last season, also as two of the best squads in the nation, and the Panthers earned a 3-1 victory at home. Albert Thorsen and Jason Belloli are the two existing players from each team who scored in last season’s matchup and both have seen significant minutes this season, as well.
