Michigan will travel to South Bend on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup against Notre Dame in men’s college soccer.
On Tuesday night, Notre Dame and Michigan will go head-to-head at Alumni Stadium in South Bend for a non-conference matchup in men’s college soccer. The Fighting Irish are currently 5-2-3 overall with an ACC record of 2-2, putting them in seventh place in the conference standings. On Saturday night, the team traveled to New York to play Syracuse, falling 2-1. The first half ended up scoreless after a back-and-forth battle between the two teams, but Syracuse took a 1-0 lead shortly after halftime. Just five minutes later, Matthew Roou scored Notre Dame’s lone goal to tie things up, but the Orange came right back down the field a minute later to score the game winner. Notre Dame outshot Syracuse 16-10, but it wasn’t enough to get on the board again and the team was forced to take another loss.

The Wolverines bring an overall record of 5-1-4 and a conference record of 1-1-3 into Tuesday’s game and the squad will be looking to bounce back from a recent loss, as well. On Friday night, the team hosted No. 4 Ohio State and while the Wolverines put up a fight, they eventually fell 6-3 in a high scoring game to drop to fifth place in the Big Ten standings with the loss. Oliver Martin, Ben Soto and Jason Bucknor each found the back of the net for Michigan and Dylan Davis, Joao Paulo Ramos and Murphy Parker each picked up a point with assists. Isaiah Goldson came up with six saves in net for the Wolverines, but with the frequent onslaught of shots by the Buckeyes, Goldson was bound to come up short at some point.
Michigan and Notre Dame will meet for the the 21st time in program history. The Fighting Irish have won 13 of the last 20 meetings, including the most recent matchup in 2023 which resulted in a 3-0 win for Notre Dame.
