The Quakers have been hot since the first game of the season in which they beat current No. 1 Pitt in a 1-0 game. The team is now 9-1-1 overall and 3-0 in Ivy League play to hold the top spot in the standings. Penn’s only loss this season came against Atlantic-10 strength VCU in a 2-0 defeat, but the Quakers have gone on to stay undefeated since then. Most recently, the team picked up a 2-0 victory over Brown to earn its third straight win. Behind a brace from Stas Korzeniowski, his second of the year, the Quakers were able to handle the Bears at home. Phillip Falcon III held strong in net and made four saves to pick up his seventh clean sheet of the year.
Monmouth and Penn have met every year for the last six years. Monmouth picked up a 2-0 win in the teams’ first meeting, but Penn dominated the next four games. Last year, the teams played to a 1-1 draw in Philadelphia. This year’s game could easily go to either team, but Penn is slightly favored.
